How to select a family law solicitor

The SRA (Solicitor’s Regulatory Authority) are the body responsible for maintaining a register of all solicitors and firms authorised to practice.

You can access the register here at this link to the SRA website.

It is the definitive impartial source of information about the law firms and people regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. This includes 199,000 solicitors.

You can use the list to:

  • Check whether somebody is a solicitor and find where they work.
  • Check whether the law firm is regulated.
  • Check for firms the SRA have closed down, and people prohibited from practising as a solicitor.
