COVID-19 Policy

Guidance and support for our prospective and current clients.

During these uncertain times we continue to operate as normal as possible, including accepting new clients. We are classified as keyworkers and therefore continue our work advising and supporting clients and their families, including throughout any lockdowns as per government guidance. Family Courts will be open or operating remotely as an essential public service.

We continue to offer our extremely popular remote appointments using videoconferencing technology such as Zoom or Skype, or by telephone should your prefer.

Please do not hesitate to contact us to find our how we can help:

As all of our systems are cloud-based, we can assist and support you by working remotely as well as attending court if necessary. As such, we are able to offer you ongoing advice, support and guidance concerning all family matters.

We are continuing to assess the developing situation each day and will continue to take advice and follow guidance from the Government, Solicitors Regulation Authority, HMCTS and The Law Society.

Health and Safety

No doubt you will already be aware of key measures to be taken to protect yourself and those you are in physical contact with. You will undoubtedly have already read much on this topic so we will not cover it again here. If needed, further advice is contained in the government guidance at:

https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Please do not attend our offices in person if you or anyone you have been in contact with has a temperature or other symptoms of COVID-19, are in quarantine after travel from high risk areas, are shielding or are self-isolating. Please follow the NHS guidelines on COVID-19:

NHS Guidelines on when and how to self-isolate.

We are implementing the following procedures following our COVID-19 Risk Assessment. These are designed to protect us all and keep us safe:

- We offer clients remote appointments by telephone / Skype / Zoom conferences, as an alternative to face-to-face meetings.

- We request that any visit is by a prior arranged appointment only.

- We respectfully request you wear a face covering or visor (unless exempt) if attending court or any face-to-face meeting.

- We politely request that you minimise the number of people present at face-to-face appointments. You can discuss this with us in advance if you are unsure.

- To reduce the risks of transmission, we ask that all correspondence and documents are sent by email wherever possible. We are accepting hard copies by post should no alternative be available.

- We provide hand sanitiser gel and hand washing facilities, however we recommend that you bring your own hand sanitiser if possible. Please use hand sanitiser regularly before, after and at intervals when touching surfaces.

- Feel free to bring your own drinks and refreshments.

- We will not be accepting cash payments at this time.

- In the event of court or other face-to-face contact, we politely ask you to follow any one-way system and all social distancing measures, this includes ensuring that you always remain two metres apart from others. Signage is provided to assist you.

Support

It has become increasingly clear that the human and economic impact of the pandemic is significant. Most of all we hope to be able support you as best as we can even in the event of changes to court hearings, cancellations or delays.

We continue to be able to offer assistance by:

- Attending courts in person or by telephone / skype where applicable and where possible;

- Conducting conferences via telephone, Zoom or Skype;

- Offering Mediation Intake Appointments / MIAMs via Zoom and Skype ;

- Communicating and giving advice by email and telephone.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide regular updates.

Thank you for your understanding and remember to look after yourself and your family, stay alert, be safe and help to save lives.

Best wishes,

Kent & Surrey Family Resolution
