Anti Money Laundering Regulations and handling large cash payments
Best practice for clients is always our top concern at Kent and Surrey Family Resolution. It is at the heart of the work we do and our greatest pride to provide safe, effective and high quality resolution and advice. As part of this we follow current sector guidance on legal compliance and best business practice.
As we comply with past and new enhanced and additional anti-money laundering regulations, we will continue not to handle large amounts of cash.
We are unable to accept cash payments over £200. This is to comply with our obligations as an independent legal professional.
You can pay by bank transfer, cheque or card using chip and pin.
New anti money laundering regulations come into effect on the 10th of January 2020 after being passed through U.K. parliament in December last year. We have already been complying with the requirement not to handle large amounts of cash.
The regulations state that as our business in as a legal professional, we need to register with an anti-money laundering scheme. We are registered with a supervisory authority to follow anti-money laundering regulations.
Kent and Surrey Family Resolution is registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The SRA are the supervisory body that regulates our industry sector (Solicitors in England and Wales).
