Justice Week 2020
Justice week runs from Monday 24th to Friday 28th February this year and aims to further access to justice for all in society.
Next week we are celebrating Justice Week 2020 at Kent and Surrey Family Resolution. This article looks at what Justice week is and how its aims and motivations can impact on us all.
Justice week began in 2018 and runs from Monday 24th to Friday 28th February this year, with the aim to further access to justice for all in society.
We all have a sense of what is fair and what is not, understand how hard it is to be treated unjustly or to lose our rights. In our society the justice system supports and protects these ideals. The law is crucial to our individual and collective wellbeing, but is also currently under tremendous strain, a threat which cannot be ignored.
The Law Society states that: “Justice and the rule of law are facing major threats, from cuts to spending to attacks on the judiciary. This undermines our democracy”.
Justice week examines the importance of the law and justice to each one of us. It looks at the rule of law, what justice means today and how it could look in the future, plus how to bring alternative dispute resolution into play to improve individual’s access to their rights and the Law. The latter is something we at Kent and Surrey Family Resolution are proud to champion passionately. We offer mediation, arbitration, co-mediation and Private Financial Dispute Resolution to clients. All these methods aim to alleviate strain on the court system and bring empowerment and speedy, fair resolution to clients. They enable families to move forward in a positive and solution-focussed way, giving all clients a voice and a sense of control.
