Courts, access to justice and the Coronavirus pandemic

During lockdown there have been massive changes to the way the justice system works in the UK. Many law firms are working from home remotely. What other changes are there?

The coronavirus pandemic has meant sweeping change across the court and justice system. It is likely that some of the changes ushered in (and also the way that law firms, courts and access to justice works) will remain in place after lockdown ends.

What might some of these changes be?

Anticipating the future can be hard, but there is no doubt that some changes are to be welcomed and can lead to new ways of working and innovation which may well improve access to justice. This of course requires “sustainable technological solutions” as mentioned in the Law Gazette article linked below.

For instance, law firms are and will continue to operate remotely to serve clients there are new ways to offer appointments, which could well be here to stay.
