Electronic bundles for the age of videoconferencing and remote courts

In the age of Covid-19, remote family law courts have meant that paperless working has come to the forefront. This includes e-bundles, or electronic bundles.

Family Law practitioners are now required to use remote working with video conferencing during court access restrictions.

This has necessitated the speedy move to paperless working – especially the use of electronic bundles. But just what is a court bundle and what do solicitors mean when they use this term?

A bundle is a folder of court documents provided to the court before a hearing. It should contain all of the documents the court may need for that hearing. Moving to remote working with courts held using videoconferencing technology means paperless bundles are a reality.

Of course, reducing paper consumption also helps reduce C02 emissions and reduce our ‘paper footprint’. So we may just be doing our bit to save the planet along the way.

The Law Society have published a video on the new electronic bundle system here.
