Breaking news: No-fault divorce to finally become law
A leading family lawyer said the reform will make divorce “kinder and more civilised.”
No-fault divorce has been given the go-ahead as the Divorce, Dissolution and Separation Bill cleared the final stages of parliamentary scrutiny in the House of Commons. It ends the requirement for couples to assign fault in order to be granted a divorce.
After decades of campaigning from Resolution (a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way), no fault divorce will become law in the UK. It is hoped the new law will end the ‘blame game’ in divorce.
