Getting back to business in the family courts: Cloud Video Platform
The Cloud Video Platform is now in use in family courts to help deal efficiently and fairly with children, financial and family law cases. There has been increased pressure on the already overburdened family court service prior to lockdown.
This new initiative has a focus on relieving some of the unfairness, stress and pain associated with lack of resolution and uncertainty, particularly in the light of separation or divorce. It recognises the urgent need for fair and timely solutions for families and children regarding living arrangements, finances or pension division.
The Cloud Video platform is already in use in crown courts and some magistrates’ courts.
It can be easily accessed by any device that with a microphone and camera, which can be an iPad/tablet, smartphone, laptop or desktop computer. HM Courts and Tribunals Service state that court users can join easily and securely through a web browser. To make the sessions secure they will be locked in order that only appropriate participants may join.
A new initiative of “training rooms” can also be used so that sessions can be tested before going live, to practice, get used to the system or iron out any technical glitches.
