Family Courts now using the Cloud Video Platform to operate remotely
Guidance on how to join a Cloud Video Platform (CVP) hearing using your computer, mobile or tablet.
You may have heard the terms Cloud Video Platform or CVP used. This is the videoconferencing or electronic system used by family courts in the UK in order to keep operating remotely.
This is designed to halt the backlog and allow hearings to go ahead. Not all family or children’s law hearings will be suitable for remote working. There ate also hybrid hearings, with some court users attending in person and others remotely. Some face-to-face court hearings will also continue, with social distancing and good hygiene practices in operation to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Before you join a Cloud Video Platform hearing, you should be in a private and quiet area so that people do not hear your conversation and to reduce excess background noise. It may be helpful, if possible, to arrange childcare for the day.
Remember, It is a criminal offence to record a court hearing. You should not record the video or audio or take screenshots of your hearing.
