"I'm a dad going through separation or divorce..." Where to find support.
Dad’s Unlimited, a charity based in Ashford, Kent, seeks to support dads and improve the lives for the children of separated parents.
Going through divorce or separation with children involved can be a lonely experience. It can feel like you have nowhere to turn and that no-one can understand the experience of being a single parent.
Being a full-time or part-time dad can be especially trying as it can feel like their is little support or guidance on offer. Dad’s Unlimited was founded by single dads with a Vision to: “Improve lives for children through increasing positive relationships with their fathers within a healthy and positive co-parenting environment”.
The charity began by focussing on the mental health aspects of separation, supporting both parents to improve outcomes for the children and the parents after divorce. It also focussed on the high levels of male suicide.
This includes a comprehensive programme including “Dad’s Cafes,” family film clubs, mentoring, counselling and co-parenting workshops.
