What is Child Inclusive Mediation?

We are experienced and able to offer child inclusive mediation, including direct consultation with children, where the parents wish and agree.

So what is child inclusive mediation? Child-Inclusive Mediation to mean mediators who are trained to see children as part of the family mediation process. The new rules comes into force from 1st September of this year.

Is this essential for me to look for when I select a family mediator? Following the recommendations of the Voice of the Child Dispute Resolution Advisory Group, the Family Mediation Council and Family Mediation Standards Board have recently approved the new standards for Child-inclusive mediation (CIM).

All accredited family mediators need to be aware of the new requirements in relation to CIM and to be attend training. The aim is to increasingly look for ways in which ‘the voice of the child’ may be heard in family disputes.
