The Telegraph reports that divorcing couples can

On the 25th of July, The Telegraph reported that delays for divorcing couples have doubled because of the pandemic creating court backlogs.

This is affecting both ongoing and new divorce proceedings.

As it becomes harder for couples seeking a divorce to appear before a family court, many family lawyers have seen marked increase in clients turning to alternative dispute resolution methods such as shuttle mediation, collaborative law, arbitration or mediation.

More family cases are being heard in court remotely, or using hybrid courts, but the backlog of cases is causing delays. This unfortunately comes on an already strained and overburdened court system.
