Why a 'Divorce boom' is forecast in the UK and what this means

The COVID-19 pandemic is creating an “enormous strain” on relationships, the public advice charity ‘Citizen’s Advice’ has warned.

Citizens Advice said divorce guidance searches had risen since April after a drop in visits when lockdown started and views on its divorce webpage on the first September weekend were up 25% compared with the same date in 2019.

This BBC article predicting a boom in divorce rates after lockdown gives pause for thought.. The changes to all our lives give an opportunity for reflection and considering our lives so far. Also living in close quarters for extended periods of time can sadly place a huge toll on relationships.

Although this is not a substitute for legal advice, Citizen’s Advice also provide an informative and clear web page on the basics of ways to end your marriage.

There are fears this will also place a strain on the overburdened family court system.

They also publish guidance in using Mediation to help you separate: https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/family/ending-a-relationship/how-to-separate/mediation-to-help-you-separate/
