HM Courts and Tribunals Service may consider publishing opening risk assessments

Courts and Tribunals are currently classified as key services and thus continue to operate during this period of lockdown. However, they need to be safe and demonstrate how they work to protect court users.

HMCTS said every court and tribunal building must carry out a local risk assessment to determine if it is safe for the building to be open. The risk assessment will detail the safety measures in place to protect against transmission and infection with COVID-19.

Currently, people should contact the court directly for a copy of the latest risk assessment. HMCTS said it was doing work to put risk assessments up for users to access online, on demand.
