Keeping alert to prevent cybercrime

Family Law and solicitors are unfortunately yet another area that is being targeted by scammers, with many criminals using phishing emails and bogus websites to trick clients out of funds. The COVID-19 Pandemic has brought an increase in scams by email, phone and text messages and may use fake websites with addresses that are similar to legitimate businesses.

With lockdown and Tier Four restrictions, the sudden shift to mass homeworking is that more people might be exposed to cybercrime. Criminals have reportedly taken advantage of concern over the Covid-19 outbreak. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has reported a 400 percent increase in coronavirus related fraud reports in March 2020, believed linked to the increase in homeworking.
