The Times reports how 'family law courts must listen to the voice of the child'

Family courts must speak to children, so states this article in The Times newspaper, published December 17th last year.

The article explores how children are not objects: not only the subjects of proceedings but also participants.

This comes in the wake of the report from the Family Solutions Group led by Mr Justice Cobb: “What About Me? – Reframing Support for Families following Parental Separation.”

The Report recommended that the voice of the child becomes louder in all legal processes for resolving issues between parents and caregivers. One of the recommendations is for all children and young people aged 10 and above be offered the opportunity to have their voices heard. It will place children and young people at the heart of processes for resolving issues between parents, including mediation as well as other family solicitor-led solutions.
