Return to face-to-face hearings will not be the end of remote working
2 March 2021 the President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew McFarlane, published his latest thoughts on the changes on the family court system during the pandemic.
This has included measures that will stay in place after the lockdown measures are lifted.
The focus was to ensure that best practices and current challenges are ‘captured for consideration’ when we are looking at potential longer term changes to the family court system.
Crucially, the statement indicated ‘some form of remote working is likely to be required for the foreseeable future.’ It is interesting to note that the family court system has learned that, ‘in some cases, remote working is the most efficient way of dealing with some hearings’.
