A £450m divorce battle - high court divorce case legal battle reaches conclusion

Tatiana Akhmedova, the ex-wife of Russian billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov, won a High Court case against her son in the latest instalment of a long-running courtroom battle.

The case has been widely reported in the media and high-profile, with the divorce battle involving £450m. This judgment, so comprehensive as to run to 404 paragraphs, requires both a table of contents and glossary to help clarification in what has become known as the world’s biggest divorce case.

The judgment in full aimed to create a ‘clear context for the claims brought by Tatiana Akhmedova against some of the respondents, and will then analyse and determine those claims, having taken account of a mass of documentary and oral evidence’.

Mrs Justice Knowles said: ‘All happy families are alike, each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way. With apologies to Tolstoy, the Akhmedov family is one of the unhappiest ever to have appeared in my courtroom.’
