Mediation starts increase over the past quarter
Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAMs) volumes were 43% higher than in the same quarter of 2020.
A Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAMs) is an initial meeting between one or both parties and a mediator to see if family mediation could be used to resolve the issue. Family Mediation starts were 55% higher and outcomes also were 60% higher from April to June 2021.
The Ministry of Justice and Legal Aid Agency continue to report that figures for this latest quarter remain impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic with courts and other parts of the justice system recovering from lockdown and social distancing restrictions.
