Family Division President names keys areas of focus in the family court system
Sir Andrew McFarlane, the President of the Family Division spoke this October about some of his priorities for the rest of his term of office.
Priority was afforded to enhance the well-being of everyone involved in the delivery of family justice, including the Digital Reform Programme for Civil, Family and Tribunals. He also looked at the future of remote hearings.
Sir McFarlane also named as an area of focus, the resolution of Private Law disputes between parents with respect to the care arrangements made for their children post-separation.
Although Sir McFarlane emphasised the areas he mentioned were not all-inclusive, he did further highlight ‘transparency’ as an area for attention. This concerned looking at how the Family Court may be made more open. This transparency to the wider public may help ‘gain a greater understanding of the work that is done in the courts on their behalf’.
