It can be hard to know which family law firm to instruct to handle your divorce or separation in a trustworthy and efficient way. There are a few steps you can take to check that firms are safe and regulated.

One is to check the firm is regulated and registered by the Solicitors Regulation Authority, or SRA.

This is voluntary to sign up to, but means that the family law professional has received specialist accreditation and will abide by the Resolution Code of Practice, which can reassure of higher standards.

The options are far more than simply needing to go to court, which is often not the most appropriate option.
