Divorce and Separation - Considering the needs of children
As Resolution members, we focus on helping families navigate the challenges of parenting in the wake of separation in the best way possible for their children.
By working together with Kent and Surrey Family Resolution, you can expect to be welcomed to our service in a sensitive and respectful way, which appreciates divorce or separation can be very difficult.
Coming to terms with losing someone who you thought you would be with forever, is one of the most difficult journeys a parent can take. As well as managing and coming to terms with your own feelings, supporting yourself, there is also consideration of your children - their feelings, wishes, supporting them in the best possible way to adapt to the changes separation brings.
Over 30 years experience has led us to believe that when parents learn to work together to support children and separate amicably, this leads to outcomes that are better not only for children, but also for parents themselves. Finding these solutions are a process and we are here to support you find the way through what can feel like one of the most stressful and emotionally turbulent times.
There has also been a great deal of research into how family separation impacts children and one clear message comes out of all of that research: Children cope well if there is no long-term parental conflict.
The family court system can be helpful in some cases, but frequently collaborative, client-centred approaches such as family mediation and arbitration achieve child-focused solutions and help the conflict to be taken out of family law disputes. They can also save time, stress, money and importantly place the needs and voice of any children central.
